My name is Kasim, pronounced like Awesome but with a K. At first introductions, I describe myself as part marketing guru, part social influencer and full on fatty with an insatiable appetite—emphasis on insatiable.
I try my best to document my foodie journey on my Instagram account, @kasimjhardaway, while juggling my duties at my marketing agency, TKG, and planning the next event for my nonprofit, Kind Happenings.
I’ve always had a very deep relationship with food and have found that KC has a lot to offer, both on and off the plate.
We all scream for ice cream, right? Betty Rae’s is my go-to when sweet cravings arise. Imagine your favorite flavors, but with twists only a culinary genius could arrive to. My favorite creation to date was a collaboration with Joe’s KC: candied burnt ends in a luscious sweet cream.
Be forewarned my fellow dudes (and dudettes); Betty Rae’s has a cultlike following in Kansas City with a line that is always out the door.
Whenever I am in the mood for a great steak, Anton’s is the first place that comes to mind. My typical order starts with its charcuterie boasting a trio of meats and pickled vegetables.
After my palate has been teased, I go directly for the dry-aged KC strip—butchered in-house, dry-aged on-site and served to your preferred doneness.
Get your next burger fix at Larkburger—I probably will. Its namesake burger, the Larkburger, comes with your standard accouterments: a juicy-black Angus beef patty and the tastiest truffle aioli. Whenever I’m craving something lighter, I usually order the grilled ahi tuna steak burger.
My favorite part about this place: they serve your burgers to your desired doneness.
